§ 13-1-37. POSSESSION OF WEAPONS PROHIBITED.

  • (A)

    Except as provided in Subsection (B), a person may not possess or carry a firearm, deadly weapon, or an explosive or incendiary device at the airport.

    (B)

    This section does not apply to:

    (1)

    a peace officer to the extent that the officer is required to carry a firearm or other weapon in the performance of law enforcement duties;

    (2)

    a person authorized under applicable aviation law or the airport security program to the extent the person is authorized to carry a weapon at the airport;

    (3)

    a person carrying a concealed handgun in a non-secure area of the airport to the extent the person is authorized by state law; or

    (4)

    a person shipping an unloaded firearm packaged for shipment and checked as baggage under applicable aviation law, if the person complies with Subsection (C).

    (C)

    A person shipping a firearm must declare the firearm to the aircraft operator at check-in when the package or baggage in which the firearm is packed is presented for shipment.
