§ 14-3-3. MOVING EXPENSE BENEFIT.
(A)
A displaced person is eligible for a moving expense benefit for the costs of moving personal property only as provided by this section.
(B)
A moving expense benefit may not exceed the reasonable cost of a move of 50 miles.
(C)
In addition to the reasonable cost of moving personal property, a moving expense benefit may include a payment for the cost of utility connections at the displaced person's new dwelling. A payment under this subsection may not exceed the lower of the actual cost of the connection or $200.
(D)
The amount of a moving benefit shall be calculated and paid as provided in this subsection.
(1)
If a displaced person enters into a written agreement with the City before the displaced person incurs any expense, the displaced person may present an unpaid moving bill to the City for direct payment by the City to the mover. The city manager may provide a displaced person with a list of movers from which to choose.
(2)
The displaced person may accept a payment based on a schedule of payments developed by the city manager or the federal government that reflects reasonable relocation costs in the local market.
