This item shall govern the treatment of materials in place by pulverizing soil or
aggregate materials, adding Portland cement, mixing, wetting and then compacting the
treated material to the required density, as herein specified and in conformity with
the typical sections, lines, grades and thickness as shown on the Drawings or as established
by the Engineer or designated representative. This item applies to natural subgrade
soils, embankment materials, new base or existing base (with or without asphaltic
concrete pavement layers) or combinations as shown on the Drawings.
This specification is applicable for projects or work involving either inch-pound
or SI units. Within the text the inch-pound units are given preference followed by
SI units shown within parentheses.
