§ 3.4.12. Maintenance Data (Municipal Rigid Pavement Design (MRPS-1) Only)
The following input data apply to the maintenance model used in Municipal Rigid Pavement Design - 1. It is based on a procedure outlined in Highway Research Board Report 42 entitled, "Interstate Highway Maintenance Requirements and Unit Maintenance Expenditure Index." Design values for each of these factors should be selected based on the City's experience.
A.
Composite Labor Wage
This variable defines the average hourly wage for the crews that carry out the routine maintenance operations on city streets. Thus, a. composite rate of $6 per hour should be used to represent the Street and Bridge Division composite costs.
B.
Composite Equipment Rental Rate
This variable defines the average hourly rental rate for all equipment used in routine maintenance operations. Thus, a rate of $5 per hour should be used to represent the Street and Bridge Division average costs.
C.
Cost of Materials
This variable defines the average unit cost of the different materials used in the routine maintenance operations. Such materials may include hot or cold-mix asphalt concrete, bituminous crack sealing material, Portland cement concrete, joint filler material, etc.
