In identifying intersections for signal installations, the 1980 Texas Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices should be referenced for warrants. The City of Austin typically permits timber pole installations for temporary use only. Mast arm installation shall be used for all permanent pole locations.
The City of Austin Standards and City of Austin Standard Specifications identify materials, size and makeup of permissible equipment.
NOTE: In an effort to provide for optimization of signal timing and signal progression, it is generally desirable to maintain spacings in excess of ¼ mile.
